A helpful tool I have found is visualization. This one is tricky and is different from person to person but works the best and should be practiced constantly to relieve all anxiety.
This is the one where the psychologists tell you to go to a "happy place." As funny as it seems, it really works!
What I'll do is give you an example of mine: I am sitting on the beach staring into the ocean while the sun sets over the horizon in the west (I live in Florida). I see the clouds turn their usual purple and orange, feel the breeze comb my hair, and listen to the waves crash on the gentle shore.
I look behind me and see the sand dunes tangoing with the wind and flaring into a golden fire from the setting sun. Next to me is the girl of my dreams holding me with her soft skin touching mine and making a single organism that defines the idea of a perfect being.
And the remnants of the hot sun remain on the sand and warm my body before the day transforms into the night.
Now this is very personal to me and heals my mind whenever I am in despair. Usually a person's favorite place is personal, but I always sacrifice mine if it will help others.
It takes a lot of practice to go from a state of total anxiety into a state of bliss in a manner of minutes. Sometimes it takes hours, but you will find this bliss if you can find your "spot" or the place you can call the healing place.
thanks,
sam
